Haydn Newland
Haydn Newland
I started to play the piano when I was 6, and the cello when I was 10. After pestering my parents loads, they bought me a harp, and I also started taking lesssons when I was 10. I attend Havering Music school for lessons on Saturdays, and belong to my school orchestra, and the Havering Music School Symphonia. I also play the harp with my duet partner Laura Ellice, performing in music festivals and recital venues, and study with Patricia Spero, who is known world-wide for her harp playing and performances. My long term ambition is to go to music school and one day teach the harp and be in a group or orchestra performing if I’m lucky enough.
I’ve really enjoyed my time with Grand Union, and am very happy to be part of the youth orchestra.
