Grand Union Youth Orchestra Week
31 May 2008 at 7:30pm
Brady Arts and Community Centre, 192-196 Hanbury Street, London, E1 5HU E1 5HU
The Youth Orchestra celebrated a remarkable year of growth and development in May. A half-term residency saw young musicians playing vibraphone, marimba, concert harp, dhol, sarangi and tabla, come to the Brady Centre for intensive workshop sessions and group work. They presented the expanding repertoire to an appreciative audience on the Saturday evening.
In the winter edition of Music Education UK, Grand Union featured in a wonderfully comprehensive article on The Golden Highway, a show that celebrated London 2012.
A huge well done to Alex and Callum who are the first of GUYO to achieve their Bronze Arts Award!
Anni Movsisyan, a violin and accordion player, joined GUYO earlier this year. She reflects on her experience so far with GUYO and discusses her first time playing at the Hackney Empire Theatre alongside the Grand Union Orchestra in July.
If you're a young musician living in East London, and like jazz/world music, come along and get involved!
